The Glass Art Society's Student Representative provides an opportunity for two students, one from North America and one from another part of the world, to serve on the Board of Directors and be directly involved in the organization and guiding its future. The Student Representatives serve as the primary champions of student projects and are correspondents between student members and the general membership of GAS. The Glass Art Society encourages all eligible, full-time student members in a degree-seeking glass program to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current GAS student member (from a country outside North America)
- Enrolled full-time in a college-level, degree-granting program during the 2026-2027 school years
- Ability to commit to a minimum of two years of service, including monthly video Board meetings Note: Eligible student representatives may run for re-election for a potential maximum term of four years
- The ideal candidate is organized, takes responsibility for assigned duties, is a leader, and has strong writing skills
- Prior experience as a GAS student liaison (recommended, not required)
- Ability to attend the following mandatory annual Board events: 3-4 days for an in-person Board retreat (September/October) and 7-8 days for the GAS Conference (typically May/June). Additional travel opportunities may come up but are not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Conference involvement (duties scheduled by GAS staff)
- Serve on a minimum of two GAS Committees
- Student Liaison oversight/communications
- Work with the North American Student Rep to manage student programming (regular Student Meet-Up)

The annual Glass Art Society conference is held in a different city every year. Every effort is made to choose cities with a focus on glass, a vibrant community, and with top-notch facilities. We are interested in creative proposals that consider the GAS mission and accommodate all required conference events.
