The annual Glass Art Society conference is held in a different city every year. Every effort is made to choose cities with a focus on glass, a vibrant community, and with top-notch facilities.  We are interested in creative proposals that consider the GAS mission and accommodate all required conference events.  

The 2022 GAS Conference in Tacoma, WA,  will take place May 18-21, 2022. All demonstrations (cold, flame, hot, kiln, neon/plasma, other) must take place live in Tacoma and may also be live-streamed. 


ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proposals must be submitted in English and all presentations (or demo narrations) should be given in English unless otherwise approved.
  • Each proposal must be complete and instructions must be followed fully in order to be considered.
  • You do not need to be a GAS member to present at the conference or to submit a presentation proposal.


Demonstration slots include the following: 

  • 1.5 hours for demonstration + time for set-up and cleanup
  • A $400 honorarium (total)
  • One complimentary conference pass (hot demos are granted an additional conference pass for one assistant)
  • Equipment for narration

Co-presenters will be eligible for a discounted conference pass if your proposal is accepted.


Demonstrators are encouraged to donate their artwork made during their demonstration to GAS as a part of a live demo auction.


The GAS Board of Directors and Conference co-chairs will review all submissions that meet the requirements. If selected, notification of acceptance and instructions on how to proceed will come through Submittable.com in August/September.

  • If your presentation includes more than one presenter, you must identify a primary contact person who will be responsible for collecting and submitting presentation materials and journal articles. This person will be GAS’s point of contact.
  • We will be including a small percentage of live, online presentations. If you select this preference, all presenters must be prepared with any technical requirements. Please note that GAS may request a change of presentation format for accepted presentations, according to needs determined by time, space, and program curation.
  • You do not need to be a GAS member to present at the conference or to submit a presentation proposal.

  • You do not need to be a GAS member to present at the conference or to submit a presentation proposal.


Panel slots include the following:

  • 1.5 hours for presentation
  • $125 honorarium for the moderator, and $100/panelist (max 3 panelists)
  • One complimentary conference pass for each presenter
